The System Software Updater will start. Note: Never turn off the camera nor disconnect the USB cable while updating. If the message is displayed, close using the button. "USB Mode" appears on the LCD monitor of the camera. Connect the camera to the PC using the USB cable (supplied). A dialogue box for the USB connection will be displayed. If both the message displayed and the "Security and Privacy" screen do not disappear, close both using the button. If the "Security and Privacy" screens does not disappear, please close the window. If you are asked to restart macOS after clicking the button, please restart and return to the beginning of the update procedure. Note: If you have approved this in the past, the security and privacy screen will not be displayed. Open the "General" tab on the "Security and Privacy" screen and allow reading of the "Sony Corporation" system software. If the following message is displayed before "Security and Privacy" is displayed, press the button. Once the message from the system displays, the security and privacy screen will be displayed. If your computer is running on another OS, follow the procedure below. 
Go to the download page below, follow the instructions, and download the Driver Loader to start the updater. If your computer is running on macOS 10.15, you also need to download the Driver Loader. Go to the download page below, follow the instructions, and download the System Software Update Helper to start the updater. If your computer is running on macOS 11, you also need to download the System Software Update Helper. Type the password for the administrative account.
To load a kernel extension, the message prompts you to allow the application to make changes. Close all currently programs currently running on your computer. Save the file to the desktop of your computer (recommended). After reading the disclaimer, click Download. Do not connect the camera to other any other devices except your computer. Do not open "About This System Software Updater" in the System Software Updater menu as this may cause the Updater software to crash. If the computer does go into Sleep mode and the update is interrupted, the entire update process will need to be restarted. Please do not allow your computer to go into Sleep mode during this time. 
The system software update will take approximately 10 minutes.Remove the memory card from the camera before starting the update process.Do not remove the battery during the update as the sudden loss of power may render the camera inoperable.Use a fully charged rechargeable battery pack NP-FW50 or the AC adaptor AC-PW20 (sold separately).Please close all other application software before updating the system software.
